Is this really genital warts?

Question:

Hi, I just noticed a small (about the size of the lead tip on a pencil) bump on my skin down near my genitals. It looks like it could be a whitehead pimple and its just one of them. No clusters or others located. It isn't on my vagina, but it is on the skin between my thigh and my vagina (not on the vagina, but just on my regular skin). It feels hard. Could this just be an ingrown hair or pimple? I was told this could be a genital wart. But then I was told it couldn't be because its not located on my genitals and you can't get genital warts if they aren't on your genitals. Could somebody clear this up for me? This way I can go to a doctor straight away and ask to get tested for that specific STD. Thank you!

Answers:

There are Bartholin's gland cysts which would be on the inside of your labia; folliculitis (infected hairs) could also cause this. You can go to WebMd.com and type in both of these words and read up on each condition and see if your symptoms match and the treatments recommended there. Neither of these is an STD and needs no testing. It could also be just a pimple or ingrown hair.

It is probably just a small cyst. If it were an ingrown hair or whitehead you could pinch it out.

Have to get a colpscopy. Does it hurt?

Question:

I just got a phone call from my doctor yesterday. She said that I had the test results back from my pap smear and it showed abnormal cells, and it tested positive for HPV. I dont remember which one she said, but it wasn't the genital warts one or anything. She also said I really shouldn't be worring about cancer or anything like that. But she said I do need to come in for a colpscopy to more closley examine the abnormal cells etc. Also that I would need to get the biopsy part done at the same time. I am nervous about this because the first time I go for a gyno visit I have all this happen (im 18.) Can anyone give me more information and advice?

Answers:

Good luck!

That's colposcopy, it is a method used to get a close up look at the cervix, no big deal, if they do a biopsy you will find a sharp pinch and it's over again no big deal but something you definitely need to follow through with. It only takes about 10 minutes.

Good luck!

It usually only takes 20 to 30 minutes for your doctor to complete a colposcopy and biopsy.

i was told i have HPV the other day. its noncancerous with genital warts. i have a very weak immune system (different medical issue). so i am wondering what long term effects this will have and if/how it will affect a child when i choose to have one? is there any precautions i should take? any advice would be appriciated, i dont know much about this...

Answers:

Correct usage of latex condoms greatly reduces, but does not eliminate, the risk of catching or spreading HPV. A vaccine can protect against several types of HPV, including some that can cause cancer.

Question:

please answer soon =(

Answers:

why are you saying you think you had it when you just said that you just found out you have it?

Side note: Get tested for all STD's- there is a panel they can give you, either at your doctor or the free clinic. Often times, STD's come in pairs (cute, right?) and there are some that can cause infertility if gone untreated, such as chlamydia.

what to do with genital warts?

Question:

I have genital warts, i went to my doctor and got them lasered today but the doctor didnt completely remove all of them so i have to go back, grrr. I am in a comited relationship and have been for 7 years. We only had sex with each other, no other sexual partners ever. So i dont know how i got them. HOw can i have a normal sexual relationship with my partner if i have genital warts and HPV. I have to use protection for the rest of my life so i dont get my partner infected?

Answers:

nah im jk, but you shud always be protected, having un protected sex isnt worth the risk.

either he had sex with someone else, or you are lying about having had only one partner. sorry :(

probably.

Just Me has the best answer.I have had it before, and I went through all kinds of crap...irregular papsmears, biopsies, colposcopies, cone biopsies, and after 4 years of having it, I finally got a regular pap result. From what I understand, your body eventually becomes immune to the virus and it goes away on its own, but it can take years. You CAN spread it back and forth between each other, so although it sucks, your best bet is to use protection until both of you are rid of it or it will never go away. You don't have to have visible warts to have the virus. As far as being monogomous, one of you HAD to have gotten it from someone else, so you might want to consider that. Good luck, I know it's a pain in the a$$.

am i obligated to tell them?

Question:

i found out i have noncancerous HPV today. its contagious and the genital warts kind... i want to know if i am obligated to tell my previous sex partners? The one person in particular is one of my best friends... i feel beyond guilty for not tellin him... what do u think?

Answers:

HPV is a given when you're sexually active, unless you marry your virgin high-school sweetheart! People unwilling to accept the risk of getting HPV should just not have sex, because that's about the only way to avoid it.

I wouldn't tell them just for the sheer fact that it's embarrassing. Just look forward. You don't have to embarrass yourself by telling people that you have hpv. If people are irresponsible enough to get infected then it's their problem. Who ever you infected knows by now that they have it whether by their partners (if their immune system is good enough to keep the warts away) or by having the symptoms and it's up to them to protect themselves and their partners. It's probably not the most honest thing for you to do but you have to look out for yourself. You don't have to wear the scarlet letter and let everyone know that you are carrying a disease. HPV takes a toll on you psychologically and you don't need to further the damage by making yourself a marked woman.

Don't tell your future partners either, then claim they gave it to you, they will have to call their previous partners and if you get to listen it will be funny.

Your not obligated (please read the rest before jumping to conclusions), but you should tell your partners, specially if you feel guilty about not telling them. Telling them would be the right thing to do. There may be no way of telling for sure how long you have had HPV.

Matters how long you had it, and the last time you slept with him. If you got it around the time you were infected and slept with him then yes. Cause he too could spread it. Basically try and stop the spread as quickly as possible.Yes, absolutely, you are morally obligated to tell them. Cancerous or not, you definitely need to tell any partners who have been exposed. Thus they can prevent the spread of this disease further.Definitely tell them! If it is early enough they might still do something against it, but if you wait it might be too late.Yes you are obligated to tell them.

i am so sorry for your pain, i do not know if you can afford 25 dollars a week for group therapy, but maybe it would help,

Damn im truly sorry for what happened to you. Listen regardless of how your vulva looks if a man truly loves you it wont matter to him. Yeah It may be a bit awkward but it can be overcome. Also so what if your obsessed to check every now or hten, heck everyone has something they are insecure about. I suggest that you face life with a smile and you'll be alright.first i would like to say i am sorry for what has happened to you, and i know u know it was never your fault. second, i would sue the hospital who treated you and you will of course come out in victory. third, i believe anyone and everyone should have a counselor or someone to talk with, i think it would help you in amazing ways. more so than whatever feedback you get from yahoo A&Q. I didnt see too many questions in your question, other than How do i feel normal again. well, you are normal, and a very strong normal person might i add. I retort back to seeking a professional counselor to remind you and guide you on a healthy path of life. As for people judging you, **** em, people judge thats what they do, but your stronger than that, so hold steady, stand you ground, and do what you gotta do. you have my blessings, that you will find life, love, and prosperity. Good luck to you. -7

Question:

Okayy. So i tried to clean my "cooch" out with Vinegar. It had this really bad odor. not all the time. but sometimes if i had been sweating down there. and sometimes a little itch. i thought maybe it could been a BV or yeast infection until... i sprayed ALOT of vinegar on my vagina and it burned alot of a couple of days and then i thought maybe it could have been because i shaved and nicked myself and that caused the burning from the acid. then i realized small white bumps on my labia and they were painful on contact. i looked it up and found genital warts and herpes. it DEFINITELY do not look like either but thats the symptom i have of both. i read that if you put vinegar on those they turn white. but there was nothing,, no bumps or irritation,, before the vinegar. im scared. So what do yall think??

The monostat should help with the burning as well. But talk to the pharmacist about everything. They will find something for you.

in my opinion, oral sex is completely out of the picture. it could harm him. but you should find out from your doctor to be completely sure.

You can have children and all the sex you want. The breakouts will occur when you are dealing with a lot of stress. By age 50, 8 out of every 10 women have HPV.

What happens after your first treatment of Genital Warts?

Question:

What is this? Is it normal?

Answers:

The pH of your urine is stinging your skin where you've had the warts removed. It needs a little time to heal. If you want to, look into a SheWee. It's common for urine to sting when people have herpes sores, genital warts, etc. If you're urinating a lot, you're probably drinking a lot. Unless it drastically changes colour or burns/contains blood, or is in an excessive volume it sounds healthy.

Go get the bump checked out by professional their the only ones that could really tell yea....But its possible you have been infected with a wart strain of the virus for years and the symptoms are just now showing, but in most cases the immune system clears the virus 6-24 months after you been treated (Know this because my Uncle is a head doctor a ucla medical center...So get checked out ASAP and if warts get treated and try to eat healthy and boost your system to clear virus...

For women, it's important to have regular Pap tests. A Pap test is the best tool to detect an HPV infection that could lead to cervical cancer. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that a woman begin annual Pap tests about three years after first having sexual relations or at age 21. Most women age 30 and older may have a Pap test every two to three years if tests are normal for at least three consecutive years.

Will genital warts leave scars?

Question:

I was wondering if after using wartrol the warts turned into scars.... or if freezing them would leave scars... I dont have money for laser treatment so i wanted to find the cheapest way that wont leave scars.

Answers:

wartrol no - it will not leave a scars because wartrol "is helping from inside" - wartrol is stimulating your immune system and your body will get rid of warts by itself!!

3. For an old fashioned way try the white milk of a thistle plant applied morning and night. 50 years ago it healed warts entirely and often for good.

Apply hydrocortisone cream twice daily for several weeks after treatment and this may reduce appearance of scars.

Could I have a genital wart?

Question:

Well, exactly one week(last Monday) I hooked up withthis guy. I didn't have sex with him, I just made out with him on my bed. I think he was dry humping me and I enjoyed it, his penis didn't go inside of me, it was just on mu thigh NEAR my vagina. On the front. And it's just one red bump. About the size of half a pencil eraser. And it happened idk how long afterwards. It doesn't itch, it just hurts when I touch it not gently, but not harsh. And it's just one. No clusters. And it's like between my thigh and the "v" of down there. And if it is a genital wart how do I solve it at home? I don't want my parents to know...what can I do to not get any more.??? Please help I havnt even had sex before and I don't want genital warts now!!

Answers:

It is not genital warts. They do not show up so fast (2-4 months after exposure) and they are not painful..There is also no cure for them. It could be just an ingrown hair, which is very painful, but will heal. With this scare, though, I hope that you will practice safe sex (when you do start).

Doesn't sound like a genital wart but an irritation, Warts don't hurt. Next time don't dry hump and be a lady and always use condoms if you do have sex hopefully you will wait. Don't put yourself in situations you can regret.

anyway - if you still are worried - it will be better if you will go to ypur doctor!!

Just say to him, "Look, you know that I've had genital warts before, and I'm telling you, these bumps on your penis look like genital warts. So you need to stop living in denial and get them checked out by a doctor." It should be simple.

genital warts are caused by HPV virus and HPV virus can cause cervical, anal, penile cancer!

anyways, i would be like i had an std before and i want you to get checked out because it kinda looks like what i had.

you should tell him if he really loves you the both of you should just go to the doc's and get checked out to make sure everything is alright and go from there.

go to the doctors office [gyno] and pick up some info with pictures. show him. and, then insist that you both go for an exam. it could be a mole, but unlikely. there is treatment but, not a cure. good luck.

im so embarrassed I have jsut discovered that I have genital warts! Im pregnant! will they harm my baby?

Question:

I am horrified. I have never had an std in my life! has my partner slept with someone else?

Answers:

You will need to have a c-section because you can't give birth vaginally or else it would hurt your baby. If you've just gotten them and have only been sleeping with your partner, then most likely your partner cheated on you.

god bless.

Genital Warts question...?

Question:

Is it normal for genital warts to be very itchy? If so, is there anything that I can do to make the itch stop? I think what I have is warts but my doctor cant get me in til next month. I have no insurance the clinic that I go to is the only place that I can go. Also, has anyone had any luck with any herbal or over the counter remedies to remove the warts?

Answers:

Do not attempt to remove genital warts yourself. That is something better left to the professionals.

e. Get a regular exercise, sleep and rest

Make sure you get tested for HPV as soon as possible

Hpv, genital warts. I was blind to all of this..?

Question:

This is really important.. I just want people who think they could answer my questions read this. And trust me, im going through the process of getting insurance back after stopping school, so I will go to the doctor as soon as I can. As immature as this was around 2 in a half years years ago.. maybe a little over I had been at my third sexual partner. I was 17 and not thinking at all, most were my boyfriends but I never waited long enough to know who they were.. I remember developing bumps on genital area.. I stopped having sex, and didnt open my mouth to anyone. I knew something was wrong with me but I had never been to a gyno, my mom was so strict... I just kept hush.. It happened probably for maybe a little under a year, until slowly they went away.. In may of 2009 I had my first gyno appt, being 19 years old. my pap came back abnormal and I was scheduled to come back to get the cancer screening thing done. Almost a week before that I was kicked off my moms insurance due to I STOPPED GOING TO SCHOOL. I read some girls thing talking about this and I didnt realize how serious of a situation I have in my hands.. I never read anything about this, I was immature about the whole situation. I just wanted to know im guessing it was genital warts, since they went away for so long... Are the odds on me, meaning I probably have an HPV virus inside of me? And if so, I've been carrying it for a long time.. What are the chances that it has became something way worse? Cancerous? Thanks...

Answers:

This is the kind of thing that needs to be taken care of even if you don't have health insurance. Since it's only been a few months since your abnormal Pap smear if this is precancerous changes it probably hasn't had much time to advance, so don't be scared that you've waited too long. However, do sort out how to get back to the doctor soon (Planned Parenthood or an STD clinic might be able to see you for a lower appointment fee), whether you get back on your parents' insurance or pay out of pocket (find out costs ahead of time and see if they give a discount for uninsured patients). Hopefully it was just an abnormal smear without high-risk HPV, and you'll just be out a little cash, but have much greater peace of mind.

There is no way anyone can diagnose your condition on YA. HPV is a possibility, so is herpes, but even if that is not the case, genital warts can be very serious. Go back and get the tests done as soon as you can. The longer you delay the less likely you can be treated effectively IF it is cancer.

You should get the HPV shot Gardisil. Since you already have HPV, it's especially important to get it now to prevent your chances of it developing into something worse (cervical cancer)... You should try an agency like Planned Parenthood or something. They can help you and it's cheap health care for women.

Try here.

Take care, your not alone, and guys should always wear protection, and that one special person in your life, like a year after you are seriously dating, you can share whats going on, you need not make this announcment to everyone you date and possibly sleep with, they too are not going to be alerting you to their health issues. Id not want to be a single person at this time in society, its very sad, and you are more likely in the majority of society if you have something than in the minority. I wish you all the best.

genital warts?? Someone said this earlier.. anyone else know.?

Question:

A girl earlier said if you get hpv/genital warts.. It can go away for good on its own? Anyone know anything of this?

Answers:

All types of genital HPV â€Â" human papilloma virus â€Â" can go away on their own. Sometimes genital warts go away on their own in a few months â€Â" but remember, just because you don't have any visible warts, you may still have the virus that causes them, so you still have to be careful about protecting yourself and your partner. So always use a condom or female condom to reduce the risk of infection.

Yes it can. Though most people with warts need a little a help. Freezing them off, or Aldara, and usually the warts never return. Some people have a recurrence, but for the vast majority of people, the virus is cleared with in 1-2 years and they never have another recurrence. This isn't like herpes where many people have continual outbreaks. It's very rare for someone to have continual wart outbreaks throughout a lifetime.

Treating genital warts with TCA (trichloroacetic acid)

Genital warts can sometimes be treated with a topical treatment called Trichloroacetic acid or TCA. This clear liquid is applied by a qualified health care professional once a week until the warts are completely gone after a few weeks. The first application of TCA causes the warts to start to shrink and turn white. This first application can also cause some stinging that can lead to some discomfort. As it is mensioned above, TCA can only be applied by a professional. The reason is that, if not used properly, this solution can cause some severe irritation in the area surrounding the treated lesion. However, you can safely use TCA 50 % to treat your genital warts at home without risking to harm yourself. The thing is, TCA 50% can guarantee very good results in killing genital warts, but since its strength is weakened, it can't harm the skin surrounding the treated areas. You can click here to learn more about TCA 50%.Related articles :Treating genital warts at home :TCA and genital warts :Need More?
